  • Wound management

Is surgery safe for older pets?

Generally speaking, yes. Regardless of the patient’s age, we conduct pre-surgery testing and assessment to guarantee they are good candidates. For example, some of the factors we test for help us determine the amount of anesthesia/sedative they will require.

Will my pet need to stay at the clinic overnight after their surgery?

It depends. With minor surgeries like dental extractions, patients can typically go home with their owners on the same day. More complicated operations have a higher risk of complications, so we prefer to have patients stay overnight for more rigorous monitoring.
